How comfortable are you with giving your child tap
water? When parents first have a kid they make sure to not use tap water,
because they just don't trust it. Using different forms of filtered water is
what they go for instead. As the child gets a little older though this begins
to change. Parents get a little more comfortable with tap water for their kids.
Not all parents are like this though. They'll stick to bottled water because
they believe their kid is too accustomed to it. Plus the expense isn't that
bad, but is bottled water a safer option that tap water?
Bottled water can be safer, but for any parent to
assume that it's going to be much safer than tap water is wrong. At least with
tap water you know that it's gone through a certain process in order to ensure
it's clean. And in many cases parents will make use of other filtering methods
just to ensure it's clean. Bottled water for kids can offer such false
reassurance that parents won't use additional filtering methods to get it
cleaner. And they never stop to think about where the water come from that's
inside of those bottles.
Bottled water vs. Tap water
Bottled water does have some benefits over tap
water and that's that it's very convenient. When you go into a store there's
never any shortage of bottled water options available. Bottled water also tends
to be cheap. In many cases you can get a full case of it for less that five
dollars. Besides from being very convenient and low cost, there really isn't
too much other benefit to giving your kids bottled water over tap water.
The water inside of those bottles just isn't safer
in the long run and for many different reasons, but we'll just focus on the
main two. Firstly, with bottled water the water usually comes from the same
sources as your tap water does. So the overall quality isn't much better.
Second, the plastic bottles they're put in are known to make the water unsafe
depending on how long it sits in the sun or how long it goes unused.
How much bottled water do you have just sitting
around that you probably purchased in bulk? How safe do you believe this water
is to give to your kids after a long time not being used? It's not any safer
than tap water at the end of the day.
The solution to tap water and
bottled water
The solution for parents who want to make sure
they give their kids a healthy alternative is to use a good water filtering
system, like a reverse osmosis system. The water filtering system should be good at clearing out any
impurities in water and especially the ones you might be most worried about.
There are many different filters out there, but it's best to go with a high
quality one made from one of the well known manufacturers. It would also help
you if you purchase some kind of a testing kit just to make sure the water you
got as a result of using these systems was safe.If you plan to buy a reverse osmosis system, you can click here to learn more.
