Have you ever heard of UV ultraviolet light
technology? A lot of people are familiar with the first two words, but that's
it. The thing is UV ultraviolet light technology isn't anything new at all. The
technology has been around for a very long time and is used in different ways.
So many people think it only has one purpose, the people who are familiar with
it at least. And most of these people only use it in one way.
The different technologies UV ultraviolet lighting
is used in are plenty. The technology is used for taking X-rays, for different
purposed having to do with radiation and even in water filtration systems. The
last one is going to be the focus of this article.
How UV
ultraviolet light waves treat water
UV ultraviolet light waves treat
water differently then what you might be used to with filtration systems. But
this doesn't mean it isn't effective at what it does. This technology can help
greatly in the reduction of harmful bacteria in water, chemicals and other
microbes that would make it unsafe to drink.
Can you use
this technology in your home?
UV ultraviolet light technology can
be used inside of your home, but it isn't going to be the cheapest to get
installed. In order to ensure it works you have to make sure you install it
properly. And in order to continue that it keeps working the way it should you
have to get it updated at least annually.
Is the
treatment method enough by itself?
This technology works pretty well by
itself, but in order to ensure that it's doing an effective job sometimes it's
combined with other treatment methods. For instance UV might be combined with a
carbon filtration system in order to enhance the overall effect. This helps to
get rid of even more bacteria and
contaminants.
What type of UV
water filtration systems could you get?
If you decide that you want to give
UV technology a try in your home for the purpose of cleaning your water, then
you can get it installed easily. These are available in big whole house
systems. You probably wouldn't be able to install it yourself, so you would
need a professional. The cost can be large so you would have to make sure this
was an investment you put some thought into.
You can decide to get a smaller point
of use water unit, which wouldn't cost you as much and it's easier to have
installed. The whole house system would cost you a lot though, but you'd be
using this water all over your home while the smaller unit is meant usually for
just drinking or cooking purpose.
We recommend going with the smaller
unit just to test out whether or not you like it. If you do then you can decide
to upgrade to a whole house system. Plus, depending on where you live you might
be able to get a tax break by having a whole house UV water filtration system
installed.
